BIOSKETCH: Jason came to know the Lord at the age of four after a Vacation Bible School. He grew up in a Christian home, and in High School he decided that he wanted to serve the Lord in full-time vocational ministry. Through a series of missions trips and the influence of godly people he ended up at Baptist Bible College of PA enrolled in the missions program. An internship in Ecuador provided him with firsthand experience with church planting, and allowed him to experience life in another country.
Michele came to know Christ as a nursing student at Penn State University through the witness of a hairdresser who held her captive in the chair for two hours while giving her a perm and sharing with her the Good News of Christ. Shortly afterwards a friend told her about Baptist Bible College of PA, and a few months later she transferred there. Missions was an immediate interest, and God began to enlarge her vision for the needs of people around the world.
Jason and Michele met in the college library through a funny incident involving a rubber band, and they were married on September 26, 1998. After five years of waiting, praying, and at some points believing that they would never have a child, their son Joey was born. He is a constant source of humor and a reminder of God's goodness in their lives. Currently the Maynards serve on the Missions team at Willo-Hill Baptist Church, and are also seeking to reach the the large Hispanic community in their hometown through a ministry of teaching English as a second language. The church planting ministry that they will have in Ecuador will be simply a continuance of their ministry here at home, and they are excited to be a part of seeing others come to know Jesus Christ in a personal way.
